“Desire is the key to motivation, but it's determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal - a commitment to excellence - that will enable you to attain the success you seek.”- Mario Andretti, former Formula One, NASCAR & Indycar champion.

Pulse Strategic was established in 2015 by Emma Hodgkin following an opportunity to take on the Executive Officer role of the Health Precinct (one the 17 Anchor Projects of the Central City Recovery Plan).

Emma has nearly 15 years’ experience managing complex projects and relationships across the sport and recreation, education and health sectors and has held leadership roles within central government and governance roles at national NGO level.  Emma holds a Bachelor of Recreation Management (Community Recreation) from Lincoln University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health from Massey University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Management from Victoria University (School of Government). Prior to establishing Pulse Strategic, Emma held positions at the Ministry of Health, CERA, Southland District Health Board, Venture Southland (Southland District Council) and Sport New Zealand.

Pulse Strategic prides itself on providing excellent communication and relationship management particularly in negotiating multi-party agreements and managing highly political or complex projects. Pulse Strategic can support your organisation in the planning, management and execution of small or large complex projects across both public and private sectors.

Outside of work, Emma lives in Rolleston with her husband John, a growing town they’ve called home for the past nine years. Emma is a keen runner and cyclist and is involved with a number of local community groups and organisations. She is passionate about making our communities healthy, sustainable and a better place for her children to grow up in.
